Beihang University (BUAA for short), situated in Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing , is an multi-disciplined, research-oriented university of engineering science and technology with an emphasis on aeronautic and astronautic engineering.

BUAA was founded in 1952 as the first university of aeronautical and astronautical engineering in China . Since 1950s, BUAA has been one of the key universities in China . It is one of the 15 universities given first priority for development in China 's “ 211” Project and listed in China 's Action Plan for the Revitalization of Education in the 21 st Century.

As one of China 's important centers for scientific and technological innovation and high-quality education, BUAA has fostered over 90 thousand students. More than 40 of its projects were ranked first in the country and its funding for scientific research has been among the top ones of all the universities in China for years.
