Li Tian (1938.10—) is a professor and PhD supervisor of the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering of Beihang University, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (elected in 2005), and Chief Expert and Deputy Chief Designer of Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
Prof. Li is a celebrated expert in aircraft aerodynamics. He perfected the aerodynamic configuration design of China’s aircraft, bringing up a new comprehensive high-performance configuration plan. By combining aerodynamics with electromagnetic scattering, he creatively solved the conflict between aerodynamic configuration and stealth capability.
He won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award once, and received 11 ministry-level awards as well as a number of first-class and second-class merits. He began to enjoy the special government allowance from the State Council of China in 1991. In 2001, he was awarded the prize for outstanding contribution in pre-research on armaments by the former General Armament Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
