On February 23, the Capital Spiritual Civilization Construction Work Conference was held, at which the Committee presented awards to the winners of the 9th Capital Moral Models. Liu Daxiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in aeronautical dynamics, and a professor of Beihang University, was awarded the honorary title of the Capital Model of Dedication.

Liu Daxiang is the pioneer and leader of China’s independent research and development of aero-engines. He has worked arduously for over thirty years and created the world’s leading high-altitude simulation test bench for aero-engine, promoting an important breakthrough in China’s high-altitude bench development. He has put forward strategic proposals to the central government to address core technical challenges in aircraft production, laying a solid foundation for national major projects; he has led key technology pre-research, and formulated the cross-century strategic development plan for the aerospace power, contributing great wisdom to China’s aero-engine cause; he has set up a dedicated fund for aerospace-related education, and cultivated a number of excellent chief engineers and professors, contributing to the cultivation of innovative talents in the field of China’s aero-engine. Liu Daxiang has been awarded the National Model Worker, the Grand Prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award, the Lifelong Dedication Award of the Aerospace Laureate Award, the Capital Spiritual Civilization Construction Award, and the Scientific and Technological Advancement Award of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, among other awards.

The Capital Moral Model is a great honor awarded to Beijing citizens by the Capital Civilization Construction Committee in the field of civil morality, and the selection is held once for two years with five division titles presented to 10 winners.
