On April 20, the “Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government and Beihang University” was signed at a meeting attended by Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beihang, and Wang Yunpeng, President of Beihang, as well as Chen Min’er, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee. Witnessed by the leaders from both sides, Zhu Peng, Deputy Mayor of Tianjin, and Lyu Jinhu, member of Beihang’s Standing Party Committee and Vice President signed the agreement. The ceremony was also attended by Wang Xu, member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Wang Lijun, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, Zhang Ling, Deputy Mayor, and Deng Yi, member of Beihang’s Standing Party Committee and Vice President.
Chen Min’er expressed gratitude on behalf of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for the strong support Beihang University has provided to Tianjin’s development. He emphasized Beihang’s significant contributions to China’s aerospace industry as the country’s first higher education institution in this field. Strengthening cooperation between Beihang and Tianjin is a specific measure to advance coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and to lead industrial innovation with technological innovation. He hoped that the signing of this agreement would serve as a new starting point to improve mechanisms for communication and cooperation in strategic technology deployment, technology transfer, and talent cultivation and introduction.
Wang Yunpeng expressed admiration for Tianjin’s achievements in recent years in deepening the integration of scientific and industrial innovation and briefly introduced the cooperation between the university and the city. He stated that Beihang and Tianjin have a solid foundation for cooperation, and the university will resolutely implement the thoughts of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the symposium on advancing the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Facing the needs of Tianjin’s industrial transformation and upgrading and economic and social development, Beihang will fully leverage its disciplinary and talent advantages to deepen comprehensive cooperation in talent cultivation, student employment, scientific research, and other areas.
Zhao Changlu congratulated Tianjin on its economic and social development achievements and expressed gratitude to the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for their long-term support for Beihang’s development. He stated that serving the major national strategy of coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and regional economic and social development is not only an important mission of a first-class university but also in line with the needs of its “Double First-Class” construction. Looking into the future, Beihang will closely integrate with Tianjin’s industrial structure characteristics, leverage its own scientific research and talent advantages, and focus on advanced manufacturing and the real economy to carefully plan layouts, thus promoting the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements in Tianjin.
Zhao hoped that based on the previous cooperation foundation, both sides would solidly promote organized cooperation in areas such as talent attraction and cultivation, collaborative innovation in science and technology, and achievement transformation. He also hoped that both sides would jointly build a benchmark and model for university-city cooperation and accelerate the development of new productive forces and new types of industrialization, contributing to the modernization drive of China.
