The scientific research project is a significant carrier for cultivating innovative talents, attracting high-end talents and enhancing the capability of scientific research. Beihang University has undertaken a large number of national (or national defense) scientific research tasks and cooperation projects of production, education and research since its establishment. The national (national defense) programs currently undertaken include the National Key Research and Development Programs (or Projects), the National Key Basic Research and Development Programs (or Projects), the National High-tech Research and Development Programs (or Projects), the National Science and Technology Support Programs (or Projects), National Science and Technology Major Projects (civil part), Scientific Research Projects (or Programs) of Nonprofit Industry, Major National Projects of Scientific Instruments and Equipment Development, International Science and Technology Cooperation Projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Beijing Natural Science Foundation of China, Doctoral Programs, Major National Security Basic Research Projects, scientific and technological projects (or programs) of ministries/provinces/cities, humanities and social sciences research projects (or programs), weapons and equipment exploration and research projects, pre-research projects, national defense science and technology projects, military product development projects, and defense innovation special zone projects, etc.
In the recent five years, our school has undertaken more than 8,000 projects of various national plans, with a budget of nearly 8 billion yuan, covering nearly 10,000 scientific and technological cooperation projects of production, teaching and research, and the cooperation funds have exceeded 4 billion yuan. Its funding for scientific research increased from 2.2 billion yuan in 2012 to more than 2.6 billion yuan in 2016. The total amount of scientific research funding remained stable among the top ten universities in the country with the highest per capita scientific research funding.
In 2016, it undertook more than 1,100 projects of national (or national defense) plans, with a budget of 1.59 billion yuan, and undertook more than 1,800 scientific and technological cooperation projects in industry, teaching and research, with a total funding of 777 million yuan. In 2016, the funds for scientific research came to more than 2.6 billion yuan, of which 1.8 billion yuan was planned for project funding and 800 million yuan was for science and technology cooperation in production, teaching and research.
