The Fourth Big Data and Computational Intelligence Workshop (BDCI2017) was held by Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Big Data and Brain Computing (BDBC) at Vision Hotel in Beijing from July 29th to 30th. More than 100 representatives joined the workshop.
The workshop invited top experts, scholars and industry elites in big data and artificial intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, the University of Virginia, the University of Antwerp, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, the University of Ottawa, Tsinghua University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Baidu and Huawei to give speeches and discuss new research orientations and industrialization achievements of big data and brain computing. It is also intended as a platform for research cooperation in these fields and talks over strategies for future development.
On July 29th, Prof. Liu Xudong, Executive Director of BDBC, introduced the recent progress the center has made, which was followed by nine keynote speeches focused on the theory, practice and system application of big data research. The second day of the workshop included 11 keynote speeches about blockchains, machine learning, crowdsourcing management, new computing system, graph processing, security of industrial control, etc.
Since its foundation, BDBC has hosted four big Data and Computational Intelligence Workshops, which are widely praised for enhancing the communication and cooperation between it and peers around the world. Aiming at a world-class innovative research center and a talent magnet in big data and brain computing, it works to solve scientific issues of computing complex big data, learning by crowdsourcing and correlating polymorphic cross-origin knowledge, pioneer brain intelligence-oriented data science, intelligence science and cognition science, build a theory system of big data that focuses on data modelling, learning by crowd sourcing and knowledge mapping, develop a brain computing system that could organize, adapt and grow on its own, and create “machine brain” and “social brain” with brain computing at their core.
