Topic: Welding of High Entropy Alloys

Speaker: João Pedro Oliveira, Universidade Nova de Lisboa

Time: Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 15:00-16:00

Live Streaming Platform: Tencent Meeting

Conference ID: 477 401 037

Abstract:

High entropy alloys are novel advanced structural materials with extraordinary mechanical and functional properties. The ability to use them in day-to-day operation greatly depends on the ability to join them in both similar and dissimilar combinations. In this presentation, recent progress in welding of high entropy alloys including both similar and dissimilar welding will be presented, combining advanced microstructure characterization, high-throughput thermodynamic calculation and mechanical testing to comprehensively understand processing /microstructure /properties relationships.

About the Speaker:

Prof. João Pedro Oliveira’s research primarily focuses on the areas of addictive manufacturing and wielding. He has a special interest in non-conventional metallic materials such as shape memory alloys and high entropy alloys. His group is an intensive user of high energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction for both in-situ and ex-situ studies to unveil microstructure relationships in a wide range of engineering materials. João has published many papers, with an h-index of 33. He is currently Associate Editor of Additive Manufacturing and is a member of the editorial board of Materials & Design.
