Gong Shengkai

Gong Shengkai (1956.7—) is a professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Beihang University.

Prof. Gong received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University of Technology (now known as Northeastern University) in 1982 and his PhD degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 1988. From 1988 to 1990, he was a postdoctoral researcher with the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University.

Prof. Gong has long been engaged in the research of intermetallic alloys, single crystal blades and thermal barrier coatings. He invented a new kind of low-rhenium Ni3Al-based single crystal superalloy with high-temperature resistance and lowdensity as well as ultra-high temperature thermal barrier coatings, providing support for the development of new engines in China.

He has won eight science and technology awards at the provincial level or above, including the first prize of the State Technological Invention Award (2016). He holds more than 80 authorized invention patents and has published nearly 300 SCI papers. He serves currently as vice president of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection (CSCP) and the Academic Committee of the Superalloys, CSM.
