Xiang Jinwu (1964.4—) is a professor at the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering, Chief Designer at the Unmanned System Institute of Beihang University, and Director of the Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology of Intelligent Unmanned Aircraft Systems of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Prof. Xiang received his bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1984. After that, he obtained his master's degree in mechanics from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1990 and doctor's degree from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1993, respectively..
Prof. Xiang has been committed to the study of UAV system technology and model development. he is the chief designer of Long Eagle unmanned aerial vehicle. He has won two first prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, three second prizes of ministry-level science and technology progress awards and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation. He has obtained 75 authorized national invention patents, published more than 240 papers and cultivated 9 postdoctoral researchers and 30 doctors.
Prof. Xiang was selected as a distinguished professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program. He was rated as one of the young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions, and won the honorary title of Beijing Outstanding Worker, National May 1 Labour Medal, etc. He enjoys the special government allowance from the State Council of China. His team was selected into Innovation Team of “Key Technology of Long Endurance UAV” of the Ministry of Education and Top Ten Innovation Teams of National Defense Science and Technology Industry.
