Liu Gang (1970.3—) is a professor and PhD supervisor as well as Vice Dean of the School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering of Beihang University. In 2016, He was selected as a distinguished professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program.
Prof. Liu received his doctor’s degree from Dalian University of Technology in 2001. His research focuses on maglev inertial actuators and inertially stabilized platforms, high-speed maglev motors and their application, ultra-sensitive atomic magnetic field measurement, etc. He made breakthroughs in key technologies of maglev bearings, high-speed motor drive, efficient magnetic anomaly detection based on atomic magnetometer and so on, successfully developing China’s first maglev flywheel and prototype of magnetically suspended control moment gyroscope, an ultra-high vacuummaglev molecular pump that is internationally advanced, and an ultra-sensitive measurement and research device of magnetic fields that leads the world in this field.
He has taken charge of more than 10 national projects concerning instrumentation, national defense and civil space research. His publications include 28 papers in journals indexed by SCI, 32 papers in journals indexed by EI, and a monograph titled Control Technology and Application of Brushless DC Permanent Magnet Motors. He won a first prize (in 2007) and a second prize (in 2017) of State Technological Invention Award, a first prize of National Defense Technological Invention Award and a first prize of the Technological Invention Award of the Ministry of Education in 2016.
