Chen Huawei (1975.4—) is a professor and PhD supervisor in the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Beihang University. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2017.

Prof. Chen received his PhD degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2005. His research mainly covers onbio-inspired functional surface, the multi-disciplinary theory of interfacial behavior and nano fluidics, and novel fabrication methods of hierarchical structures, aiming to solve major technical problems in the surface engineering of aerospace and medical engineering. Inspired by nature, he first discovered the new mechanism of the continuous uni-directional transportation of liquid and strong wet friction mechanism, which has been applied to the development of novel anti-icing coating technology, anti-adhesion scalpel and anti-slipping grasper for surgery.

Prof. Chen is the author of four books and over 80 SCI/EI papers. As the first author and corresponding author, he also published China’s first paper in Nature in the field of mechanical engineering. Besides, he holds 20 patents and worked as the leader of more than 20 national and military projects.
