On the morning of April 15, Galina Kulikova, first vice president of the Russia-China Friendship Association, led a delegation to visit Beihang university. They were accompanied by Wen Guangmei, first-level researcher from the Eurasian Department of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Yang Lijun, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Beihang University, met with the guests at the Ruxin Conference Center, with leaders from the International Relations Department, Department of Academic Affairs, Graduate School, Institute of Science and Technology, and School of Foreign Languages accompanying the meeting.
Yang Lijun warmly welcomed Kulikova and the delegation. He introduced the overall situation of Beihang in recent years in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and global cooperation. He also reviewed the history and achievements of exchanges and cooperation between Beihang University and Russia. Yang expressed that Russia is an important partner of Beihang, and the university has carried out fruitful cooperation with many top Russian universities and research institutions. He hoped that, with the support of the Russia-China Friendship Association, further exchanges and collaboration can be promoted, pushing China-Russia higher education cooperation to a new level.
Kulikova expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from Beihang. She briefly introduced the efforts of the Russia-China Friendship Association in promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and showed appreciation and congratulations for the development achievements of Beihang in recent years and its pragmatic cooperation with Russia. Kulikova pointed out that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, and she hoped that through this visit, further exchange and cooperation between Russia and Chinese high-level universities represented by Beihang can be enhanced, making greater contributions to the consolidation of China-Russia friendship and the promotion of bilateral higher education cooperation.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the Museum of Beihang University History and discussed with faculty and students from the School of Foreign Languages.
The Russia-China Friendship Association was established in 1957, formerly known as the Soviet-China Friendship Association, and was the first foreign friendship association of the Soviet Union. It has maintained friendly exchange relations with the China-Russia Friendship Association and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries for a long time. Galina Kulikova has been committed to promoting friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Russia. During the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the CPC in 2019, she was awarded the “Friendship Medal” by President Xi, becoming the second Russian to receive this honor after President Putin.
