On May 12, a delegation led by Jean-Claude Ruano-Borbalan, director of European Institute of Education and Social Policy (EIESP) and professor of Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), and Dr. Zhang Jiaqian, secretary-general of SRVE International Organization for Standardization and general director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of SRBS, came to Beihang University for academic exchange. Focusing on interdisciplinary integration and Sino-French cooperation, Professor Borbalan visited the Sino-French Engineer School, the School of New Media Art and Design, and the School of Humanities and Public Administration of Beihang university.
Professor Borbalan, accompanied by Professor Sa Rina, visited the classrooms, laboratories and seminar rooms of Sino-French Engineer School. He exchanged with students in French, and had an in-depth understanding of the students' learning situation and the experience and feelings of Sino-French cooperation. Luo Hongbin, dean of Sino-French Engineer School, had a friendly conversation with Professor Borbalan, and introduced in detail the educational philosophy, characteristics and efforts of the school in the training of international engineers. Borbalan highly appreciated the school's mechanism of international cooperative education and students' learning progress, and expressed his willingness to carry out future cooperation and exchanges.
Hu Yong, vice dean of the School of New Media Art and Design, introduced the development history of the school and the exhibition of works of the "Feng Ru Cup" design to Professor Borbalan. Borbalan showed great interest in several works, and exchanged ideas with the students in the studio on the creation of the works. He looked forward to the multi-integrated development of art, science and technology, education and culture, and the cooperation between China and France in the future.
In the exchange with Professor Ma Yonghong, chief expert of the School of Humanities and Public Administration and the Beijing Research Base for Graduate Education Reform and Development of Philosophy and Social Sciences, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the international and domestic experience of broad science and education integration and the theoretical value of knowledge production mode IV. They also discussed the possibility of continuing to carry out scientific research cooperation and joint training of doctoral students by relying on their research platforms.
The visit not only strengthens French scholars' understanding of the school-running characteristics, international cooperation and multi-disciplinary development of Beihang University, but also provides the possibility for future in-depth cooperation. It is hoped that the diversified and multi-channel academic exchanges between China and France will continue to promote the common progress of the two countries in the fields of education, science and technology, culture and art.
