On August 8, Beihang University released its AI assistant XiaoHang at Hangzhou International Campus. Beihang Vice President Lyu Weifeng, Vice President Zhao Weisheng, project team members, representatives of teachers, students and relevant departments attended the conference. XiaoHang is an open private domain model that supports the integration of learning, research and management for the cultivation of new talents and the construction of first-class disciplines, which is committed to improving the quality of teaching, accelerating the progress of scientific research, and promoting the digitized and intelligent running of the school. As an open AI base which integrates the design concepts of both openness and private domains, XiaoHang not only realizes autonomous control and collaborative computing of private domain data, but also possesses specialized learning ability of domain knowledge.
Lyu Weifeng expressed his heartfelt thanks to the members of the XiaoHang project team. He said that after three months of efforts, the university finally announced XiaoHang to the public, and that this endeavor is a vivid practice of the integrated planning of education, science and technology, and talent, as well as a powerful manifestation of the Beihang spirit with “Serving the Country through Aerospace Endeavors” at its core.
Zhao Weisheng said that Beihang attaches great importance to the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence and education, and has taken the cultivation of a number of new artificial intelligence scenarios as a key task of this year. He stressed the significance of building the Beijing-Hangzhou integration of intelligent computing platform, and gradually putting it into actual application scenarios.
As is introduced by the R&D team, XiaoHang has four innovative features. Firstly, it is a completely domestically produced ultra-large-scale intelligent computing platform. With its hardware resources deployed in Hangzhou International Campus, XiaoHang has the advantages of high reliability, high security, high speed and high scalability in architectural design; it is equipped with hundreds of thousands of cards of intelligent computing clusters, which can provide up to 200 PFlops of arithmetic power, and it has up to 12 petabytes of storage capacity, which can fully satisfy the application needs of teachers and students of the whole university. Secondly, based on the self-developed multi-level consciousness projection and dynamic intelligence evaluation system, XiaoHang builds an intelligent self-adaptive evolution path, which helps to unleash its potential. Thirdly, through continuous human-machine synergistic learning, XiaoHang can construct private domain data space and generate personalized large models, which enhances the complementary performance of human brain and intellectual brain, and alleviates the long-term memory problem commonly faced by AI models. Fourthly, XiaoHang can provide high-quality personalized generative services for teachers and students from all departments and all disciplines across the university, and with the input of diversified knowledge, it can learn by itself and become experts in specific fields.
