Established in September 2012, the Zhixing College of Beihang University is one of the university's earliest pilot colleges dedicated to the residential college system. Since its inception, the college has been committed to cultivating students' well-rounded character in the pursuit of truth, virtue, and beauty, adhering to the educational philosophy of "Cultivated Individuals with Moral Integrity and Professional Competence, Grounded in Both Eastern and Western Traditions" and the motto "Integration of Chinese and Western Learning, Self-Cultivation for Personal Growth."
In moral character development, it emphasizes the formation of "moral integrity" and the shaping of "noble character." In academic pursuit, it aims for the highest academic ideal of "Mastery of Eastern and Western Knowledge, Proficiency in Ancient and Modern Learning," helping students acquire broad knowledge and refined temperament, thereby achieving a unity of humanistic spirit and scientific inquiry.
Centered on the core value of "culture," the college has developed a four-pillar education system integrating "Character Development, Liberal Education, Intensive Mentoring, and Mentor Leadership." Through an immersive talent development model, it promotes both comprehensive growth and individual potential. The college emphasizes a holistic "Liberal + Professional" education approach, offering a general education curriculum centered on "Three Histories and Three Readings," and building a prestigious liberal education brand known as "Education of the Grand Academy." Supported by academic advisors and peer mentors, the college fosters a whole-community education environment that provides guidance in ideological development, academic growth, career planning, life skills, and major selection, creating an uplifting and virtuous atmosphere for student development.
After the freshman year, students from the Social Science Experimental Class will select their majors. They will pursue further studies in relevant majors in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (School of Public Administration), School of Law, or Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences.
