Abstract:
Picture books represent a distinctive and multifaceted art form that brings together illustration, literature, and book design. Increasingly enriched by digital media, they are published and presented to readers as a vital and independent form of integrated artistic expression. Outstanding picture books convey meaningful perspectives on life, uphold values of truth, goodness, and beauty, and subtly inspire readers—especially the young, who form their primary audience.
This lecture will combine a visual presentation with high-quality images of original picture book artworks, showcasing more than 80 exquisite Chinese stories as illustrated by a diverse array of Chinese artists.
