Venue: Yongman Theater, Shahe Campus
Speaker: Feng Jinzhang
Hosted by: Association for Science and Technology of Beihang University; Research Institute of Aero-Engine
Co-organized by: Association of Young Scientists and Technologists of Beihang University
Abstract:
China is striving to catch up with the Western world in advanced aero engine technologies. It is a long and treacherous road. The world, however, is moving quickly toward greener and more environmental friendly aero propulsions. Now we must look to the future, and prepare critical technologies to enable us to compete more evenly on the green runway of the future.
About the Speaker:
Feng Jinzhang is currently a Distinguished Consultant at AECC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co., Ltd. (AECC CAE). He also serves as Head of the Department of Aerospace Propulsion at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Chair Professor at Fudan University, Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong, and Adjunct Professor at several other universities.
He previously served as Deputy General Manager and then General Manager of AECC CAE, and held concurrent roles as Deputy Chief Designer of large commercial aircraft engines, Chief Designer of wide-body aircraft engines, and Director of the CAE Design and Research Center. During his years abroad, he was Chief Scientist at the Research Center of United Technologies Corporation, Principal Research Fellow in Aerodynamics, and General Manager of its China Research Center.
He has broad experience in tackling major aero engine technical challenges, developing and applying aerodynamic computational methods, and the design and analysis of turbomachinery. He received the AVIC Aviation Service Gold Award in 2013 and the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2014.
