Abstract:
The lecture includes four parts. First, it elaborates on how AI for Science (AI4S) is shaping a new paradigm of scientific discovery and the relevant national strategic layouts. Second, it explains the wave of new quality productive forces development, exploring how digitalization, intelligence, and breakthroughs in applied sciences are giving rise to emerging industries such as life and health, and new energy. Third, it analyzes global trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the bipolar competitive landscape between China and the United States. Fourth, it introduces China's current stage and its prospects for building itself into a leader in science and technology.
About the speaker:
Dr. Hu Zhijian, second-level research fellow, is the Chairman and Fellow of the Chinese Association of Science of Science and S&T Policy Research. He has held key positions such as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Policy, Regulation and Institutional Reform, and Inspector of the General Office at the Ministry of Science and Technology; as well as Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development. He has also served as a Chief Expert of China Top Think Tanks Pilot Unit. With a multidisciplinary background in policy formulation, research management, and academic research, he has accumulated extensive practical experience and developed theoretical foundation in the field of science and technology management and policy research.
