About the Speaker:

Judith Frömmer is Professor and Head of the Department of Romance Studies at the University of Vienna, Austria. She has previously taught at the University of Freiburg and University of Munich, and conducted research at the University of California, Berkeley, and the International Research Center for Cultural Studies in Vienna. 

Her research focuses on early modern Italian and French literature, Machiavelli, Petrarch, political aesthetics, and Renaissance humanism. She serves on the review board for the humanities at the Swiss National Science Foundation and as a selection committee member for the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. She has led several projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the NOMIS Foundation. Her publications include Armare il Principe (The Armed Prince) and Italien im Heiligen Land (Italy in the Holy Land).
