About the Speaker:

Zheng Hairong is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Professor and Executive Vice President of Nanjing University, and Director of the Academic Committee of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, CAS. He is primarily engaged in research on medical imaging and information technology systems for brain-computer interfaces (BCI). He has presided over multiple major research projects, including National 973 Program (serving as Chief Scientist), the Strategic Priority Research Program of CAS, and the National Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Project.

Through the development of a major national scientific instrument for whole-brain ultrasonic non-invasive neuromodulation, he invented a non-invasive ultrasound-based BCI read-write technology system. Based on the development of high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems (3.0T and 5.0T MRI), he has established a theoretical framework and an electronic information technology system for fast intelligent MRI.

He has published over 200 papers in journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Nanotechnology, Science Advances, PNAS, and IEEE Transactions, with an H-index of 70. He holds over 90 authorized invention patents. As the first contributor, he has won a first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and a second prize of National Technological Invention Award.

He serves as Director of the State Key Laboratory of Biomedical Imaging Science and System (Shenzhen), Director of the National Innovation Center for Advanced Medical Devices, President of the Chinese Association of Young Scientists and Technologists, Member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering.
