Introduction to the Orchestra:
Founded in October 2006, the Student Symphony Orchestra of Beihang University currently has more than 70 members. Over the past decade, the orchestra has witnessed rapid and steady development, with its professional level constantly improving. It ranks among Beijing’s finest collegiate ensembles.
The orchestra has actively participated in art exhibitions at all levels. It won the first prize at the 7th National College Students Art Exhibition with their performance of "Festival Overture" (in Chinese: Jie Ri Xu Qu) in June 2024, and received widespread acclaim for their rendition of "Farewell My Concubine" (in Chinese: Ba Wang Bie Ji) as the grand finale at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Beijing College Student Music Festival in November.
The orchestra has contributed to the popularization of aesthetic education in Beihang Unversity every year, presenting numerous excellent performances. At Beihang’s 70th-anniversary gala, the orchestra led the chorus and dance troupe in performing the opening piece "A New Horizon" (in Chinese: Xin De Tian Di).
The outstanding performance of the orchestra and the strong artistic atmosphere on campus have also attracted the cooperation of professional and excellent teams. In the past year, the China Philharmonic Orchestra visited Beihang twice and cooperated with the student orchestra to perform several encore pieces, wining applause and acclaim from the audience.
