Saturday Cinema invites you to step into the epic historical drama of The Last Emperor.

This week, we present Bernardo Bertolucci's Academy Award-winning masterpiece, a poignant and visually stunning exploration of one man's extraordinary life set against the backdrop of a nation's transformation. The film traces the poignant journey of Puyi, from his enthronement as a three-year-old child in the Forbidden City to his eventual reformation as a common citizen. Through the twilight of an empire and the rise of a new China, we witness a life caught between grandeur and imprisonment, prompting profound reflections on identity, belonging, and the elusive nature of freedom.
