In mid-May 2024, the School of Foreign Languages of Beihang University successfully hosted its first 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) Research Presentation Contest. Lasting for about three months, the event went through preparation, registration, qualification checks, judging, and awarding procedures, attracting 64 teams from nearly 30 departments across the university.

Combining anonymous expert review and online voting by students, the contest selected 21 award-winning entries, comprising two first prizes, nine second prizes, and four third prizes. Each entry included a research presentation video, presentation slides, and a comprehensive research report as per the 3MT competition requirements.

The 3MT adopts an international competition format, which requires participants to present their research findings in a lucid style to a non-specialist audience. The successful hosting of the contest not only enhanced students' research presentation and communication skills, but also promoted interdisciplinary communication and collaboration. The School of Foreign Languages of Beihang University will continue to support and promote academic exchange activities like the 3MT, with the goal of providing students with more chances to express themselves and hone their skills.
