On April 9, Beihang University hosted the Beihang-Colombia Scientific Culture Day, welcoming a delegation of 33 representatives from various universities, research institutions, and government bodies in Colombia. The event aimed to deepen scientific and cultural collaboration between China and Colombia, fostering mutual understanding and innovation.

At the opening ceremony, Weng Jingnong, Director of the International Relations Department of Beihang University, warmly welcomed the Colombian delegation and provided a detailed introduction to Beihang’s history, achievements, and international development initiatives. He highlighted that under the guidance of the “UPS” international development strategy, Beihang has established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with nearly 200 prestigious universities, top research institutions, and well-known multinational companies worldwide. He expressed hopes for comprehensive and multi-field cooperation with more Colombian universities and extended a sincere invitation to Colombian students to study and exchange at Beihang.

Three international students from Colombia gave presentations on Beihang’s international student programs and shared their personal experiences of studying and living here.

In the academic exchange session, Professor Yin Sha from the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering presented an overview of the development, research directions, and significant achievements in aerospace disciplines, as well as the school’s advancements in international cooperation and talent cultivation. Professor She Rui from the School of Artificial Intelligence focused on the latest research breakthroughs and international cooperation projects in AI at Beihang. Delegates actively engaged in discussions about potential future collaboration areas and the transformation of scientific research results.

The delegation also visited the Center for Micro-Nano Innovation of Beihang (Beihang Nano) and the Beijing Air and Space Museum. These visits offered insights into Beihang’s innovative research achievements in micro-nano technology and allowed the delegates to experience firsthand the brilliance of China’s aerospace technology development.

The Beihang Colombia Scientific Culture Day marked a significant step in deepening mutual understanding between Beihang University and Colombia’s higher education community. By expanding collaborative opportunities and fostering cultural exchange, the event laid a robust foundation for building a global partnership network that reflects Beihang’s unique strengths and vision.
