Voluntary tree-planting adds greenery to campus

On the morning of April 11, a voluntary tree-planting activity was held at the Shahe Campus of Beihang University. Among the attendees were Beihang Secretary of the Party Committee Zhao Changlu, President Wang Yunpeng, Vice President Liu Shuchun, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee Cheng Bo, Vice Presidents Lyu Jinhu, Deng Yi, and Wu Jianghao, as well as faculty and student representatives from various schools and departments.

The event saw participants enthusiastically digging soil, planting seedlings, building protective barriers, and watering the newly planted trees. They planted over 20 high-quality seedlings, including white wax, crabapple, white pine, red-leaf plum, lilac and other species, adding vibrant greenery to the campus landscape.

Beyond beautifying the campus, the tree planting activity underscored the university’s commitment to fostering labor education and environmental stewardship. By involving students in practical activities, the event aimed to inspire a sense of responsibility, cultivate a passion for hands-on work, and reinforce the importance of sustainable practices.

Following the tree-planting activity, Zhao Changlu and Wang Yunpeng inspected the nearing completion of the Shahe Campus Library project. They reviewed the construction progress and commended the project’s development and its environmental integration.

The Shahe Campus Library covers a total area of 48,000 square meters, with 13,000 square meters of ground-level space. The six-story structure, complemented by two underground levels, will house a variety of functional spaces, including reading areas, study rooms, discussion zones, lecture halls, exhibition spaces, and specialized collections for books, rare manuscripts, and archives. Designed to accommodate 2.48 to 3.09 million volumes and offer 3,500 seating spaces, the library is a cornerstone project for advancing the Shahe Campus’s educational and research facilities.
