NBTC delegation visits Beihang University

On September 18, a delegation from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand, led by its Chairman Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck, paid a visit to Beihang University. The delegation also included Principal Engineering Expert Saneh Saiwong and Director of the Bureau of International Affairs and Cooperation Sakonpa Prachuabmoh.

Zhang Hailan, Vice Chair of the University Council, met with the guests in Conference Room 8 of the New Main Building. The meeting was attended by representatives and faculty members from the International Relations Department, the Publicity Department of the Party Committee, the Institute of Science and Technology, the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Astronautics, and the School of Law.

Zhang Hailan extended a warm welcome to the NBTC delegation and provided an overview of Beihang University's development and achievements in international education. She also reviewed the collaborations between Beihang and Thai partners. She emphasized the critical role NBTC plays in Thailand's socio-economic development, particularly in broadcasting, telecommunications, and navigation applications. As China and Thailand celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, she hoped that both institutions would further deepen their partnership in areas such as communications, satellite navigation, and artificial intelligence, thereby contributing to the advancement of aerospace and communication technologies in both countries.

Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck expressed gratitude for the warm reception and spoke highly of Beihang's remarkable achievements in aerospace, electronic information, and artificial intelligence. He introduced the organizational structure and development goals of NBTC and expressed his hope to strengthen collaboration with Beihang in scientific research, talent cultivation, and international conferences by drawing on the university's expertise in space technology applications, communications, and space law. He also emphasized his desire to promote more exchange visits between the two sides.

During the meeting, the NBTC delegation held in-depth discussions with representatives from Beihang's Institute of Science and Technology and related schools on topics including 6G development, space law formulation, AI applications, and communication and navigation technologies, reaching multiple consensus points.

Additionally, Chairman Sarana and the delegation met with Thai students currently studying at Beihang to learn more about their academic and life experiences at the university.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is an independent regulatory agency of Thailand. It is responsible for overseeing the country's broadcast and telecommunications industries, especially the regulation of radio frequencies. It aims at promoting efficient and sustainable development of the communications industry, as well as universal standard certifications within the sector.
