University Party Secretary Zhao Changlu visits student dormitories for heart-to-heart talks

On December 19, Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the CPC Beihang University Committee, visited the student dormitories at the East Area of Shahe Campus to engage with undergraduates. He had face-to-face conversations with some students from the 2022 Engineering Mechanics (Strengthening Basic Disciplines Program) of the School of Aeronautical Science and Engineering, gaining a deeper understanding of their thoughts, study dynamics, and personal development.

During the informal conversations, Secretary Zhao asked students about their hometowns, academic challenges, personal interests, and postgraduate plans. Students grew more relaxed as the discussion deepened, sharing their thoughts and concerns freely.

Secretary Zhao reaffirmed the university's commitment to providing a supportive and high-quality learning environment. He encouraged students to achieve well-rounded development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education, guided by genuine talent and solid learning.

Drawing from his own experience, he advised students to actively engage in sports and develop discipline through daily routines. "Make time for physical exercise, immerse yourselves in the campus sports culture, master a sporting skill, and cultivate a lifelong habit of fitness. Sports strengthen both the body and the will," he noted.

Meeting students preparing for graduate entrance examinations, Secretary Zhao inquired about their preparation and well-being. He encouraged them to maintain a balanced routine and a positive mindset ahead of their exams. Upon learning of a student's recent family difficulties, he emphasized the importance of institutional support and directed the school to provide timely care and practical assistance.

Recognizing that many students in the class who had secured postgraduate recommendations had already started research work in laboratories, Secretary Zhao discussed their academic interests and career plans. He listened thoughtfully to questions about pursuing doctoral degrees and career pathways, offering guidance tailored to individual aspirations.

He encouraged students to leverage Beihang's research resources, explore interdisciplinary approaches, and contribute to foundational and cutting-edge fields. Citing examples from embodied intelligence and other emerging areas, he highlighted the importance of aligning personal research goals with national strategies and real-world applications.

The visit reflects Beihang's continued emphasis on student-centered education and the implementation of its leadership liaison system, designed to foster communication between administrators and the student community. Students expressed appreciation for the personal engagement and encouragement. They said that the conversation had inspired them to approach their studies with renewed motivation and a stronger sense of purpose, reinforcing their commitment to dedicating their youthful energy to the great cause of national rejuvenation and building a modern, powerful nation.
