Beihang University recently convened its 2026 New Year Tea Party and the Second Plenary Session of the Second University Affairs Committee at the Ruxin Conference Center.

The event brought together the university's leadership, representatives of retired senior administrators and academicians, faculty and student representatives, as well as heads of various departments and schools. Attendees gathered to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, exchange insights, and share aspirations for the future.

President Wang Yunpeng presented a report on the university's developmental progress. He highlighted that 2025 is a year of concerted effort and solid advancement for Beihang. The university achieved major breakthroughs in key performance indicators, systematically enhanced its educational capabilities and governance efficacy, successfully concluded its 14th Five-Year Plan, and made significant strides in its "Double First-Class" initiative, laying a solid foundation for a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

President Wang outlined the year's accomplishments: strengthening the Party's overall leadership to ensure the correct direction of the university; solidly implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education to comprehensively improve the quality of independent talent cultivation; refining the world-class disciplinary ecosystem by emphasizing quality, distinctiveness, and impact; enhancing systematic innovation capacity to make new contributions in serving national strategies; establishing a structured talent echelon through precise recruitment, meticulous cultivation, rational deployment, and rigorous assessment; achieving new breakthroughs in substantive international exchanges and cooperation by bolstering global engagement capabilities; and reaching new heights in first-class governance through continued reform and innovation.

On behalf of the University Party Committee, Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the CPC Beihang University Committee, extended heartfelt gratitude to the retired senior administrators and academicians for their dedicated service and steadfast support. He also conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to all faculty and staff members, students, retired comrades, and alumni.

Secretary Zhao emphasized that guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the university thoroughly implemented its core educational mission, forged ahead with strategic planning and deepening reforms, accumulated momentum by integrating education, technology, and talent development, and proactively addressed the needs and expectations of the university community in 2025. In advancing high-quality development, the community contributed wisdom and strength in areas such as scientifically charting the 15th Five-Year Plan, integrally promoting the synergy of education, technology, and talent, vigorously expanding institutional resources and influence, systematically improving the institutional framework, and nurturing a first-class university culture.

Looking ahead, Secretary Zhao stated that the 15th Five-Year Plan period is a pivotal phase for Beihang to accelerate its journey towards the forefront of world-class universities. The entire community must maintain strategic resolve and firm confidence. He called for serving national strategies with a pioneering spirit, resolutely implementing the major decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, enhancing the operational effectiveness of the president's responsibility system under the leadership of the Party Committee, and deepening the integration of Party building with university operations. He urged building a world-class university with innovative drive, optimizing policies and resources, creating new integrated mechanisms, and holistically boosting comprehensive institutional performance. Furthermore, he emphasized building an optimal ecosystem for learning and living through pragmatic action, relying on and serving the university community, and uniting the community with a first-class university culture.

"Where the spring tide surges, endeavor thrives," Secretary Zhao stressed. He called on the community to anchor to the goals, unite in thought and action, embody a "striving" spirit, a "pioneering" drive, and a "solid" work style to propel the construction of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, thereby making greater contributions to the Chinese path to modernization.

During the event, participating academicians and faculty representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, discipline development, and scientific research. They offered constructive suggestions for the university's development, expressed high expectations for its future, and extended festive greetings and sincere wishes. In the new year, the Beihang community will forge ahead to make new and greater contributions to accelerating the development of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
