On April 23, Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of Beihang University, met with a delegation led by Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, President of Middle East Technical University (METU) of Türkiye. Representatives from the International Relations Department also attended the meeting.

On behalf of Beihang University, Zhao Weisheng extended a warm welcome to the METU delegation and briefed the delegation on Beihang's talent cultivation, disciplinary development, scientific research achievements and international cooperation. He noted that Beihang and METU have complementary strengths in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, and computer science, laying a solid foundation for in-depth bilateral cooperation. Beihang stands ready to take this meeting as an opportunity to establish closer ties with METU in areas of mutual advantage.

Yozgatlıgil expressed gratitude for Beihang's hospitality and spoke highly of its development achievements in recent years. He provided an overview of METU and mentioned that, with 2026 marking its 70th anniversary, METU hopes to advance substantive cooperation with Beihang in student and faculty exchange, and integration of industry and education.
Founded in 1956, METU is the top science and engineering university in Türkiye. Its main campus is located in the national capital Ankara, covering a total area of 4,500 hectares. The university offers over 40 undergraduate programs, 107 master's programs and 69 doctoral programs, with nearly 30,000 students on campus.
