The 2026 World Digital Education Conference (WDEC) was successfully held from May 11 to 13 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Education of China and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province under the theme "AI + Education: Transformation Development Governance," the conference gathered education representatives from over 100 countries and regions, as well as guests from international organizations. In-depth discussions were held on topics such as intelligent technology empowerment, education reform, educational equity, and digital education governance.

During the conference, a number of influential outcomes were released, including industry development reports, ethical frameworks for education, and practical application guidelines. The Global Smart Education Sharing Platform was upgraded, and the Hangzhou Initiative on AI and Education was officially issued. The conference showcased innovative achievements in digital education from both China and abroad, actively built consensus on global education development, promoted the deep integration of artificial intelligence and education, and supported the high-quality, coordinated development of global digital education.

As an important supporting event of the conference, the Global Youth AI Innovation Camp 2026 was held concurrently. A special visit was arranged for the participants to the Hangzhou Innovation Institute of Beihang University. Young participants toured the Aerospace Science Popularization Experience Hall and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Industrial Big Data and Intelligent Robot Systems. Through immersive experiences with cutting-edge technological innovations and in-depth insights into aerospace intelligence, the visit cultivated the digital literacy and practical innovation capabilities of the youth.
