Beihang University's Hangzhou International Campus welcomed nearly 3,000 visitors on May 31 to its inaugural joint Open Day and Science Experience Event, featuring three institutes and a host of high-caliber research platforms.
For the first time, the Zhongfa Aviation Institute (ZFAI), the Beihang INSA Institute for Applied Sustainable Sciences and Technology (BIFAST), and the Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute (BVPI) opened their doors together, alongside several advanced research platforms. The event offered the public an immersive experience of cutting-edge research facilities, international academic culture, and a smart campus environment.
At ZFAI, participants explored the forefront of smart civil aviation, engaging directly with the dean and hearing personal growth stories from current students. The event brought the thrill of aerospace technology to life, making it accessible to all.
BIFAST offered a glimpse into the dynamic interplay between Chinese and French cultures and technological innovation. Students delivered lively performances that captured the vitality of youth, while an on-site tech innovation roadshow showcased their original research projects.
At BVPI, Chinese and Spanish deans engaged in warm conversations with visitors, providing detailed answers to questions and discussing talent cultivation in the era of artificial intelligence.
Beyond tours, the event offered immersive science exploration experiences. Several key research platforms opened to the public, including the Tianmushan Laboratory, the Industry Science 2.0 Laboratory, the International Research Center for Green Photonics, the State Key Laboratory of Spintronics Devices and Technologies, and the Key Laboratory of Data Science and Intelligent Computing.
The Open Day also gave visitors access to the Aerospace Pavilion, the university library, the dining hall, and the student dormitories, offering a comprehensive preview of student life on the Hangzhou International Campus.
