Recently, Beihang alumnus Haotong Qin, who received his Ph.D. from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, was named to the Forbes "30 Under 30" Asia 2026 list. Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETH Zurich), where he currently works as a postdoctoral researcher, reported on this achievement:
Dr Haotong Qin, a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Project-Based Learning (PBL) headed by Prof. Michele Magno, has been included in the Forbes "30 under 30" Asia list in the "Healthcare & Science" category. He is researching how large language models (LLMs) can be trained more efficiently.
The US magazine Forbes has recognised Haotong Qin's outstanding research, which investigates how large language models (LLMs) can be trained using less energy, storage space, and computing power. The 28-year-old Haotong Qin completed his doctorate at the State Key Lab of Complex & Critical Software Environment at Beihang University in China and spent time at D-ITET's Computer Vision Lab as a visiting scholar.
For more than two years, he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Project-Based Learning (PBL). His research has been cited over 4,000 times and has received numerous awards. In 2025, he was included in Stanford University's list of the world's top 2% of scientists.
Congratulations!
