Beihang University garnered significant recognition at a meeting bringing together the national science and technology award conference, the general assemblies of the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology, which convened in Beijing on July 8.
As the lead completing institution or principal investigator's institution, Beihang secured a total of seven National Science and Technology Awards, including one first prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, two second prizes in the National Natural Science Award, two second prizes in the National Technological Invention Award, and two second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
This year's achievement marks a record high for the university in the total number of awards won as the lead institution, including both first-prize awards and second-prize National Natural Science Award. Furthermore, Beihang faculty contributed as key members to four collaborative projects that also received national recognition, bringing the university's total affiliated awards to 11—placing it among the top institutions nationwide.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, Beihang has accumulated 16 first prizes in National Science and Technology Awards, maintaining an unbroken streak of winning these prestigious national honors.
Representatives of the award recipients, including Zhu Yanbo, Zhao Lidong, Wang Jinjun, Zhang Guangjun, Yang Lijun, Wei Hongxing, and Yang Shichun, attended the meeting.
