On the evening of August 28, the closing ceremony and the Golden Deer Awards presentation ceremony of the 21st Changchun Film Festival were held in Changchun. Professor Yu Shui from the School of New Media Art and Design at Beihang University won the Best Screenplay Award for the animated film Nobody. The film was also shortlisted for the Best Film and Jury Prize.

Founded in 1992, the Changchun Film Festival is the first national-level film festival in China named after a city. Under the theme "New Era, New Cradle, New Power," this year's festival was held from August 23 to 28, with a total of 16 films competing for the Golden Deer Awards across ten categories, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Director.

The movie was directed by Yu Shui and co-written by Yu Shui and Liu Jia. It is the first animated feature film of the acclaimed anthology Yao-Chinese Folktales. Centered on four ordinary little monsters embarking together on a pilgrimage for Buddhist scriptures, the film delivers a witty, touching narrative mixed with laughter and tears, showcasing courage, friendship and personal growth among ordinary individuals confronting hardships. Rooted in traditional Chinese culture, the film features an art style rich in Eastern aesthetics and emotional expressions that resonate with contemporary audiences, breathing new life into classic cultural heritage. Upon its release, the film received widespread acclaim, setting a new all-time box-office record for Chinese 2D animated films.

This award is a testament to the industry's recognition of Professor Yu Shui and his creative team's artistic exploration and excellence in screenwriting. It also represents a significant achievement of the School of New Media Art and Design's long-standing commitment to integrating art and technology, emphasizing original practice, and innovatively expressing traditional Chinese culture.
