On the morning of September 4, Secretary of the CPC Beihang University Committee Zhao Changlu and President Wang Yunpeng held separate cordial discussions with new undergraduate and graduate student representatives at the Shahe and Xueyuan Road campuses, respectively. The meetings served as a platform to listen to the students' personal stories, share a collective sense of national commitment, and offer guidance for the journey ahead.

Secretary Zhao and President Wang extended a warm welcome and sincere congratulations to the student representatives for joining the Beihang community. The atmosphere was lively and open as students shared their motivations for choosing Beihang, their initial experiences on campus, and their expectations for the future. Also present at the meetings were Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Cheng Bo and Vice Presidents Zhao Weisheng, Deng Yi, and Wu Jianghao.

Secretary Zhao listened attentively to the students, engaging with their ideas and commending their thoughtful reflections on academic life and future development. He noted, "As new members of the Beihang family, you have chosen this university with a positive mindset and careful consideration. This choice reflects your passion for your chosen fields, your trust in the university, and your clear vision for the future."

Secretary Zhao offered three guiding principles for a fulfilling university experience: to clarify ambition, encouraging students to integrate personal goals with the national development strategy and to maintain focus and resilience in the face of challenges; to broaden knowledge, urging students to utilize available resources, break down disciplinary barriers, and cultivate an interdisciplinary mindset to become versatile professionals with deep expertise; and to act with commitment, stressing the application of knowledge to real-world challenges, translating learning into action to support Chinese modernization, and embodying the Beihang spirit of practical responsibility. Zhao also reminded students to prioritize their health, establish a regular exerciseroutine, and stay positive amidst a complex digital environment.

President Wang listened intently to each student's presentation and acknowledged their thoughtful plans and perspectives. "Listening to everyone's stories, I am struck by the vitality and eagerness of our undergraduates and the clear vision and long-term planning of our graduate students. Your ability to judge and comprehend complex issues is truly impressive."

Addressing the students, President Wang offered advice on leading a fulfilling campus life. He called on them to strengthen perseverance, encouraging undergraduates to adapt quickly to self-directed learning and graduates to develop a persistent and resilient attitude toward research; to utilizere sources and foster collaboration, prompting students to engage in scientific and technological innovation, break out of traditional thinking patterns, and use teamwork to solve academic challenges; and to pursue comprehensive development, urging all students to uphold the university motto of "Integrating Virtue with Brilliance and Combining Knowledge with Practice," to engage in extracurricular activities, and to integrate personal growth with the nation's broader development goals.

During the discussion, students from various schools and colleges shared their unique stories and aspirations.

Undergraduate representatives traced their paths to Beihang through a variety of formative influences. Some drew inspiration from family legacies in aviation, while others recalled early encounters with the "Fengru Cup" competition and campus tech events that first sparked their passion for aerospace. Several also expressed strong interest in interdisciplinary programs like the "Law + AI" dual-degree track, viewing these as opportunities to broaden their impact.

Graduate representatives reflected on their research journeys—from undergraduate experiences as museum docents sparking a passion for aero-engines, to commitments to tackling core technological challenges in low-altitude aviation safety and lightweight drone systems. Many emphasized their dedication to solving real-world engineering problems and contributing to foundational research in fields like organic chemistry and software reliability.

After the discussions, Secretary Zhao and President Wang presented the student representatives with copies of the book Stars Shine Over the Heavens: The Chinese Spirit Through the Lens of Aerospace Pioneers and posed for group photographs with them.

Earlier, President Wang also held a separate discussion with 15 new doctoral student representatives. He inquired in detail about their research directions, progress, and advisor relationships, and showed genuine concern for their living conditions and laboratory environments. He encouraged the doctoral candidates to anchor their research in national needs, identify precise topics aligned with major fundamental research projects, and strive for original innovation and international academic leadership. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining academic integrity, building healthy advisor-student relationships, and treating research as a lifelong commitment.

The meetings were also attended by representatives from the Party and Administrative Office, Student Affairs Department, Academic Affairsv Department, Graduate School, General Affairs Department, Youth League Committee, and Student Center.
