On the afternoon of September 9, Beihang University held a grand ceremony at the Sunrise Concert Hall to mark the 42nd Teachers' Day, honoring faculty and staff for their outstanding contributions.

Ahead of the event, a large screen displayed heartfelt holiday messages from students to their teachers, while the official theme songs of the 42nd Teachers' Day, "Spring Rain" and "The Guide," resonated warmly throughout the venue.

Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the CPC Beihang University Committee, extended holiday greetings on behalf of the university to all faculty and staff who work diligently in teaching, research, management, and support services. He expressed deep respect for retired colleagues who have devoted themselves to the university's development, offered sincere congratulations to the award recipients, and extended a warm welcome to new faculty members joining Beihang.

Zhao noted that over the years, faculty across the university have steadfastly implemented the Party's educational policies, embodied the spirit of educators, and remained true to their mission of fostering virtue through education. Through their dedication to teaching, pursuit of innovation, and spirit of selfless service, they have driven the university's continued progress and written a Beihang chapter in the story of strengthening education for national development.

Zhao offered three hopes for all faculty: to strengthen ideals and convictions and systematically enhance the capacity for ideological and political guidance; to stay true to the original aspiration and mission and continuously sharpen their professional competence in education; and to scale new heights in science and technology and contribute to the nation's strategic needs. He encouraged new teachers to cherish the honorable profession of teaching, deeply study and practice the educator's spirit, carry forward Beihang's spirit of "serving the nation through aerospace endeavors," and learn from exemplary figures.

In his address, President Wang Yunpeng congratulated the individuals and groups honored at the ceremony and expressed high respect for the 117 faculty members who retired this year and the 56 who have devoted thirty years to teaching. He conveyed sincere greetings to all faculty who fulfill their duties and dedicate themselves to nurturing students, and extended heartfelt gratitude to all staff for their hard work in advancing the university's mission.

Wang noted that over the past year, Beihang's faculty have remained steadfast in their fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, achieving outstanding results across teaching, research, disciplinary development, and talent cultivation. Their collective efforts yielded impressive results, with a total of 1,136 awards received across various categories. Achievements were abundant in Party building and ideological work, teaching and education, scientific and technological innovation, and talent development.

Wang pointed out that as the blueprint for the 15th Five-Year Plan takes shape and the national drive to build an education powerhouse enters a critical phase, the university must position itself within the framework of world-class university development. He called on faculty to devote themselves to nurturing talent and honing their teaching skills; to pursue original innovation and serve high-level scientific and technological self-reliance; and to deepen disciplinary development and strengthen the university's long-term foundation.

During the ceremony, Zhao presented retirement commemorative plaques and flowers to representatives of retiring faculty. In the 2025–2026 academic year, 117 Beihang faculty members retired, devoting their deepest passion to the classroom and writing moving stories of educational dedication through decades of commitment.

Wang presented honorary certificates and flowers to representatives of faculty who have taught for thirty years. In the 2025–2026 academic year, 56 Beihang faculty members reached this milestone. The ceremony honored them in recognition of their selfless contribution throughout the years.

Representatives of the faculty who have taught for thirty years delivered a poetry recitation titled "Dear You," moving the audience with their sincerity.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Liu Shuchun and Vice President Lyu Weifeng presented flowers to faculty representatives honored for achievements in Party building and ideological work. Vice Presidents Lyu Jinhu and Deng Yi presented flowers to representatives recognized for excellence in education. Vice Presidents Wu Jianghao and Yan Xiaojun presented flowers to representatives honored for achievements in scientific and technological innovation.

At the ceremony, Academician Su Donglin of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, recipient of the 2025 Jingshi Award for People's Teachers, shared her story of over three decades at Beihang. She recalled her dedication to teaching, her work cultivating electromagnetic talent for the country, and her perseverance in field experiments on the Horqin Grassland. She urged faculty to carry forward the spirit of educators, stay true to their mission of educating for the Party and the nation, and cultivate more talent to contribute to national rejuvenation.
