On September 18, President Wang Yunpeng led a delegation to Nanjing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with peer institutions, visiting Southeast University and Nanjing University. The delegation included Academicians Fang Jiancheng and Guo Lei of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Vice President Lyu Jinhu.

At Southeast University, Wu Xiaocheng, Secretary of the CPC Southeast University Committee, and Sun Youhong, President of the University, met with the Beihang delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on cultivating top-tier innovative talent, advancing discipline development, and fostering collaborative innovation in research. CAS Academician Cui Tiejun and Vice President Zhong Wenqi of Southeast University also attended.

Wang Yunpeng noted that Beihang and Southeast University share a long history of cooperation. He expressed hope that the two universities would further leverage their respective strengths to deepen collaboration in talent cultivation, interdisciplinary integration, and the commercialization of research outcomes. He called for multi-level scientific exchange and collaborative exploration based on each institution's disciplinary expertise, contributing more to building China into a leading country in education and in science and technology.

Wu Xiaocheng and Sun Youhong affirmed the solid foundation of cooperation between the two universities and expressed their expectation to further expand the depth and breadth of collaboration in talent recruitment, student cultivation, scientific innovation, and technology transfer, jointly writing a new chapter in building world-class universities with Chinese characteristics.

The Beihang delegation also toured the Science and Technology Exhibition Hall at Southeast University, learning about the university's history and its latest progress and innovative practices in tackling key core technologies, building strong teams of talent, and facilitating industry-university-research collaboration.

At Nanjing University, Tan Tieniu, Secretary of the CPC Nanjing University Committee, met with the Beihang delegation. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on disciplinary development, talent cultivation, research innovation, and inter-university cooperation. CAS Academician Shi Yi and Vice President Lu Xiancai of Nanjing University took part.

Wang Yunpeng commended Nanjing University for its strong foundation in basic research and its distinctive strengths. He hoped that both sides would actively explore opportunities for cooperation, leverage their respective research strengths and development needs, focus on key areas, and enhance original innovation capabilities. He called for joint efforts in talent cultivation and scientific research to empower one another and jointly write a new chapter in collaborative development.

Tan Tieniu noted the deep ties and close cooperation between Nanjing University and Beihang, which have produced a series of important achievements. He expressed hope that the two universities would continue to broaden cooperation, deepen practical collaboration, and make greater contributions to serving national strategic needs and local economic and social development.

The Beihang delegation also toured Nanjing University's Laboratory of Energy Optoelectronic Materials and Devices and visited its Brain-Computer Interface Research Institute, learning about the university's research progress and innovations in energy optoelectronic materials, biomimetic intelligence, and medical-engineering integration.

Representatives from the Party and Administrative Office and the Institute of Science and Technology also participated in the visit.
