On the morning of September 29, the 2025 Matriculation Ceremony of Hangzhou International Innovation Institute (H3I) of Beihang University was held at the music hall of Beihang Hangzhou International Campus.

The ceremony was attended by Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the CPC Beihang University Committee, alongside distinguished guests including Gérard Creuzet, Academician of the French Academy of Technologies, Recipient of the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award, and Co-chairman of the Sino-European Cooperation Committee at Beihang University; Olivier Chansou, President of French Civil Aviation University (ENAC); Christian Nibourel, President of the board at the French National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) Lyon; Frédéric Fotiadu, Director of INSA Lyon; Damien Fabrègue, Vice President for International Relations of INSA Lyon; Jose F. Monserrat, Vice Rector of Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV); Shu Peidong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province; and Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of Beihang University. More than 700 Chinese and international undergraduate and postgraduate freshmen from the Zhongfa Aviation Institute, Beihang INSA Institute for Applied Sustainable Sciences and Technology (BIFAST), and the International Education Center also participated in the event.

Zhao Changlu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new students who had been admitted to Beihang University with outstanding results and expressed sincere gratitude to the guests for their strong support in the construction and development of the university. As they embark on this new journey, he shared three hopes for their future: to cultivate virtue and integrate knowledge with action; to pioneer innovation and strive for excellence; and to embrace the world with open-mindedness and global perspective.

Olivier Chansou extended a warm welcome and congratulations to the third cohort of freshmen of the Zhongfa Aviation Institute. He encouraged students to pursue their studies with curiosity and critical thinking, always uphold open innovation and shoulder responsibilities bravely, grow into internationally outstanding engineers through the integration of theory and practice, and jointly address global challenges such as green transformation and the application of new technologies.

Frédéric Fotiadu extended sincere congratulations to the first cohort of freshmen from the BIFAST. He hoped that the students would root themselves in the rich soil of Chinese civilization, broaden the scope and depth of their international perspectives, thrive and grow in a forward-looking and innovative campus environment, thus to contribute wisdom and strength to the sustainable development of humanity.

Shu Peidong extended congratulations to the new students from around the world and a warm welcome to the French friends who had traveled from afar. He hoped that the Zhongfa Aviation Institute and the BIFAST would actively build themselves into benchmarks for Sino-foreign cooperative education in China and important windows for the opening up of higher education, deeply integrate into Zhejiang's innovation ecosystem, and help elevate Zhejiang's innovative development to a new height.

During the event, the High School-to-University Transition Ceremony was held.

Zhao Weisheng, Olivier Chansou, and Christian Nibourel jointly presented awards to the students who had received the Freshmen Scholarship.

Gérard Creuzet and Sun Qingfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of H3I, jointly presented awards to international freshmen who had received the "Outstanding Talents" Scholarship.

Zhong Yiyang from Beijing delivered a speech as the undergraduate representative of the BIFAST.

Ren Xuan from Shenzhen delivered a speech as the postgraduate representative of Zhongfa Aviation Institute.

Professor Christophe Caire from the École Normale Supérieure (Paris) delivered a speech as the faculty representative.

Nicolas Jeannée, Senior Director of Dassault Systèmes, presented the plaque of "3DEXPERIENCE Edu Center of Excellence" to the Zhongfa Aviation Institute.

Ye Jide, Vice President of Zhejiang Supor Co., Ltd., represented Supor in donating to establish the "SEB/Supor Scholarship-BIFAST Program" for the BIFAST.

Zhao Weisheng and Jose F. Monserrat jointly unveiled the "BEIHANG-UPV International Excellent Engineers Program."

Prior to the ceremony, Zhao Changlu met with representatives of H3I foreign experts and guests from international partner institutions.

Zhao Changlu emphasized that Beihang has consistently adhered to an internationalization strategy, recruited and nurtured high-level talents globally, and deeply engaged in high-level international cooperation projects. He noted that the experts and guests present were not only witnesses to the construction and development of the Hangzhou International Campus but also important participants and promoters. He expressed hope to further integrate advantages and deepen cooperation with international partner universities, achieving more outcomes and greater breakthroughs in international talent cultivation, technological innovation, and talent exchanges, thereby jointly opening a new chapter in development.

After the ceremony, Zhao Changlu held a cordial discussion with 18 freshman representatives. The students shared their personal reflections from their first month at the Hangzhou International Campus and their plans and aspirations for the future.

Zhao Changlu encouraged the students to strengthen their ideals and convictions, set lofty goals, and integrate their personal aspirations into the broader context of the country's development. He urged them to inherit and promote the Beihang spirit, with "serving the nation through aerospace endeavors" at its core, make good use of the first-class platforms and environments, and promote the integration of theory and practice. He also emphasized the importance of leveraging the international characteristics of the Hangzhou International Campus and developing global competence, thereby contributing youthful wisdom and strength to the building of a human community with a shared future. The university, he said, would work hand in hand with everyone to build a beautiful, healthy, and sustainable Hangzhou International Campus.

Heads of relevant departments, including the Party and Administration Office, the Academic Affairs Department, and H3I, participated in the activities respectively.
