Forum on Blockchain Empowering the Development of the Real Economy held at 2025 WIC Wuzhen Summit

On November 8, the Forum on Blockchain Empowering the Development of the Real Economy, part of the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province. The forum featured opening remarks by Wang Jingtao, Deputy Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, Zhou Guohui, President of the Zhejiang Provincial Federation for Science Popularization and former Vice Chairman of the 12th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Lyu Weifeng, Vice President of Beihang University.

Under the theme "Activating Industrial Ecosystem, Empowering the Real Economy," the forum aimed to foster a collaborative blockchain innovation ecosystem and inject new momentum into developing new quality productive forces. Experts, including academician Zheng Zhiming from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, alongside scholars from China, the United States, Singapore, and other countries and regions, engaged in in-depth discussions. Topics included blockchain technological innovation, industrial ecosystem development, and the application of blockchain in key sectors.

Participants concurred on the need to fully leverage blockchain's potential to empower the high-quality development of the real economy and actively promote the application of blockchain technology in fields such as trade, transportation, and logistics. In the panel discussion, attendees delved into two key topics: "Distributed Digital Identity Facilitating Cross-Industry and Cross-Sector Mutual Recognition" and "Blockchain Empowering Transportation and Logistics to Serve the National Unified Market." The forum also witnessed the release of the authorized Chinese translation of the Verifiable Credentials Data Model v2.0.

The forum was co-hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China and Beihang University, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Blockchain Innovation and Development Expert Working Group (Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies), the World Wide Web Consortium, and the National Center of Technology Innovation for Blockchain. The event brought together over 100 attendees from government authorities, international organizations, research institutions, and domestic and international enterprises.
