From May 9 to 10, a delegation led by Evânio Antônio de Araújo Júnior, Vice Minister of Information Management, Innovation and Evaluation of Education Policies at Brazil's Ministry of Education, visited the Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University, embarking on a friendly trip to deepen educational exchanges and promote international cooperation. Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of Beihang University and Sun Qingfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou International Innovation Institute (H3I), received the delegation.
On the evening of May 9, Zhao Weisheng and Sun Qingfeng held talks with the delegation. The two sides engaged in pragmatic discussions on deepening China-Brazil cooperation in education and science and technology, focusing on high-level talent cultivation and the development of research and innovation platforms.
Zhao Weisheng extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed sincere gratitude to the Brazilian Ministry of Education for its long-term care and support for Beihang's cooperation with Brazil. He noted that Beihang has always regarded Brazil as one of its most important partners in Latin America. In recent years, Beihang has continuously deepened collaboration with Brazilian universities and research institutes, establishing a comprehensive cooperation framework covering talent cultivation, research innovation, industrial coordination, and cultural exchanges. Both sides have yielded fruitful results in frontier fields such as green aviation and artificial intelligence, with programs including the China-Brazil Youth Science and Technology Innovation Leadership Camp making steady progress. As the "China-Brazil Year of Culture" falls in 2026, Beihang looks forward to seizing this opportunity to further deepen collaboration with Brazil, explore new models of international collaborative education, and contribute educational and scientific innovation strength to elevating the China-Brazil Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Araújo spoke highly of H3I's international education achievements and Beihang's fruitful cooperation with Brazil. He stated that the visit offered him an up-close insight into the vitality of China's higher education development, strength in scientific and technological innovation, and achievements in digital education, further consolidating confidence in deepening bilateral cooperation. Brazil's Ministry of Education attaches great importance to educational exchanges with China. Through this visit, it hopes to expand pragmatic cooperation in academic exchanges, youth communication and joint training, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between young people and scholars of the two countries, jointly elevating the Brazil-China educational partnership to new heights with steady and long-term development.

On the morning of May 10, the delegation attended the 4th Tianmushan Conference & Tianmushan Laboratory Low-Altitude Economy Conference on "Integration of New Technologies and New Industries.". At the conference, Araújo, Professor Julio R. Meneghini from the University of São Paulo (USP), Zhao Weisheng, Director of Tianmushan Laboratory, and Chen Yingchun, Chief Scientist of Tianmushan Laboratory, jointly unveiled the Green Aviation Joint Laboratory established by Tianmushan Laboratory and the Polytechnic School of USP. Under the cooperation framework between Beihang and USP, the joint laboratory will focus on fundamental research, technological breakthroughs and achievement transformation in green aviation, boosting collaborative innovation between China and Brazil in this field.

During the visit, the delegation also participated in a seminar held by the Beihang University Brazil Center. Professor Diao Xungang, head of the Center, introduced the center's progress and its achievements in promoting bilateral cooperation in education and technology with Brazilian universities. In recent years, the Brazil Center has steadily expanded cooperation and built multiple joint research platforms, effectively advancing in-depth China-Brazil scientific and technological innovation collaboration. The China-Brazil Youth Science and Technology Innovation Leadership Camp, jointly launched by Brazil's Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, Capes) and Beihang University, has achieved phased progress. Scheduled to officially launch in Hangzhou in July 2026, the program will bring teachers and students from more than 20 Brazilian universities to China for "1+1" joint research and innovation exchanges with their counterparts at Beihang, further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between young scientific and technological talent of the two nations.

The delegation also visited the Data Science and Intelligent Computing Laboratory of H3I, UN-Affiliated Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China), and the National Key Laboratory of Spintronic Chip and Technology. They exchanged views with Brazilian faculty and students on campus to gain an in-depth understanding of Beihang's scientific and technological innovation and international cooperation achievements in artificial intelligence, aerospace technology, integrated circuits and other fields.

A rendezvous across mountains and seas, the visit witnesses the enduring China-Brazil friendship. Before departing, Araújo inscribed a farewell message, leaving a precious memory of the friendly exchanges and drawing a warm conclusion to the visit.
