Bio of the Speaker:

Prof. Trivedi is a B.Tech. (EE) graduate from IIT Mumbai. He received the MS and PhD degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He holds the Hudson chair with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. Since 1975, he has been with the Duke faculty. He is the author of the well-known text entitled Probabilityand Statistics with Reliability, Queuing and Computer Science Applications (Prentice-Hall); a thoroughly revised second edition (including its Indian edition) of this book has been published by John Wiley. He is also the author of two other books, one entitled Performance and Reliability Analysis of Computer Systems (Kluwer) and the other entitled Queuing Networks and Markov Chains (John Wiley). He has published more than 500 papers and has supervised 45 PhD dissertations. He works closely with industry in carrying reliability/availability analysis and providing short courses on reliability, availability, performability modeling, and development and dissemination of software packages such as SHARPE and SPNP. His research interests include reliability, availability, performance, performability, and survivability modeling of computer and communication systems. He was the recipient of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award for his research on software aging and rejuvenation. He is a fellow of the IEEE and is a Golden Core Member of the IEEE Computer Society.
