Bio of the Speaker:
Dr. Chang Liu received the B.Sc. degree in automation from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China in 2010; the Ph.D. degree in testing, measurement technology and instrument in Beihang University, Beijing, China, in 2016. From April 2016, he has been a postdoctoral researcher in the department of air pollution and environmental technology, Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, ETH Domain), Dübendorf, Switzerland. He will join the School of Engineering of the University of Edinburgh as a lecturer from February 2018. His main research interests include NIR/MIR laser absorption spectroscopy (LAS), LAS tomographic technique and system design, and their applications to combustion diagnostic and trace gas sensing. He has published 9 journal papers and 6 papers in the Proceedings of the IEEE Conferences. He is a referee for the journals including Optics Express, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, Measurement Science and Technology, and Review of Scientific Instruments. His Ph.D. thesis was nominated for the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in the field of Measurement, Control and Instrumentation by China Instrument and Control Society.
