On April 14, a 14-member delegation from the University of Zagreb visited Beihang University, marking a significant step in fostering international academic and research collaboration. The delegation, led by Jurica Pavičić, Vice-Rector for International and Inter-Institutional Cooperation, Tomislav Milinaric, Vice-Rector for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Cooperation with Economic Sector, and Dubravko Majetić, Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Postgraduate Studies, was warmly welcomed by Huang Haijun, former Vice President of Beihang University, as well as representatives from relevant departments and schools.

In his address, Huang Haijun extended a heartfelt welcome to the visiting delegation and briefed the guests on Beihang’s recent achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, and global cooperation. He reviewed the collaborative history between Beihang University and the University of Zagreb, emphasizing the importance of this inaugural visit in strengthening bilateral ties. Huang expressed hopes for deepening the partnership between the two universities, leveraging the advantages of the Hangzhou International Campus, and expanding collaboration in student exchange, faculty visits, and academic research across key disciplines such as materials, mechanical engineering, and transportation.
Tomislav Milinaric expressed his gratitude for Beihang’s hospitality and commended the university for its impressive achievements and global impact. He provided an overview of the University of Zagreb’s rich history, institutional structure, academic achievements, and international cooperation efforts. Milinaric noted the vast potential for collaboration between the two institutions in fields such as materials, mechanical engineering, transportation, and artificial intelligence. He hoped that this visit would facilitate deeper exchanges in talent cultivation, bilateral academic conferences, and university-enterprise cooperation, yielding tangible outcomes.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured the Beijing Air and Space Museum at Beihang University, gaining insights into the university’s pioneering contributions to aerospace research and education.

Founded in 1669, the University of Zagreb is the oldest and largest university in Southeastern Europe. Renowned for its excellence in agriculture, forestry, petroleum engineering, environmental science, and life sciences, the university comprises 29 faculties, 3 art academies, and 1 Croatian research center. It accounts for over 50 percent of Croatia’s annual scientific output and 80 percent of the nation’s academic research contributions.
