Beihang University welcomed 4,425 new undergraduate students across its three campuses in Beijing and Hangzhou on August 29 and 30, marking the start of a new chapter in their lives at the university.

Registration venues were set up at Qiushi Square on the Xueyuan Road Campus, Century Sound Square on the Shahe Campus, and the Student-Faculty Service Hall at the Hangzhou International Campus.
University leaders, including Party Committee Secretary Zhao Changlu and President Wang Yunpeng, visited the registration areas to warmly welcome the new students and their families. They presented birthday gift packs to students celebrating their birthdays that day and special support packages to those using the "Green Channel" financial aid service. The leaders also expressed their gratitude to the faculty and student volunteers assisting with orientation activities. Vice President Deng Yi also attended the events.

During their visit to the freshman dormitories, Secretary Zhao and President Wang talked with students about their hometowns and academic interests, encouraging them to take full advantage of the university's resources. They emphasized the importance of diligent study, collaboration, and personal growth, urging students to strive for excellence and contribute to national strategic needs in their fields.

This year's welcome activities were organized under the principle of "Safe, Warm, Meticulous, and Orderly," with a student-centered approach. Initiatives included shuttle services from major railway stations, one-on-one volunteer guidance and luggage assistance, birthday meal vouchers for students registering on their birthdays, and integrated service stations for tuition, residence registration, campus cards, and bank accounts, significantly streamlining the process. Carefully planned routes and procedures also ensured a smooth and secure move-in experience.

Nine students from the Qian Xuesen Science Class of Wuhan No. 3 High School were all admitted to Beihang this year. "We are excited to join this dynamic campus and see innovation as our way to contribute to the country," they said. "The sports facilities here are impressive! We look forward to exploring our academic interests deeply and turning our passions into expertise."

A new Campus Life Service Guide system was launched this year, offering navigation for both Beijing campuses and detailed information on dining, facilities, and logistics. Shi Changle, a freshman from Shenyuan College, found the system extremely helpful: "It’s very convenient, just like a walking guide to campus life."

Various schools and colleges also held distinctive welcome activities to help students adapt to campus life. Humanoid and quadruped robots from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation attracted much attention. These robots greeted newcomers and assisted with luggage, demonstrating key research advances in embodied AI and humanoid robotics projects.

At the Hangzhou International Campus, Vice President Zhao Weisheng participated in welcome events and interacted with new students.

Thrilling race car demonstrations and drone displays offered an exciting first impression of campus, while traditional cultural experiences such as Song Dynasty-style tea whisking and calligraphy mounting immersed students in Chinese heritage.

New students signed their names on a signature wall and took photos with their families to commemorate the day. The university also held a seminar for parents to foster collaboration between families and the university.

As the new academic year begins, the new students embark on a journey filled with possibility, carrying the pride and spirit of Beihang with them.
