On September 27, the 2nd International Conference for Training Excellent Engineers was held in Beijing. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng attended the conference and delivered a speech. The conference was hosted by the Chinese Union for Training Excellent Engineers. At the conference, Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the CPC Beihang University Committee, delivered a special report on behalf of the Union, and Beihang University signed a MoU with Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain. The event brought together guests, experts, and scholars from over 120 universities, enterprises, research institutions, and associations across more than 30 countries and regions.

In his special report titled "Pursuing Excellence, Facing the Future: Building the Education Certification Standards for Excellent Engineers in China," Zhao Changlu highlighted the practical explorations, international experiences, and standard development in the education of excellent engineers. He pointed out that China has comprehensively established an industry-education integration training system, driving reforms in engineering talent cultivation through systemic changes. The organized, structured, and large-scale joint training between universities and enterprises has been achieved for the first time.

Drawing on domestic practices and international experiences, Zhao Changlu emphasized that establishing China's education certification standards for excellent engineers requires adhering to characteristic development to promote the integration and mutual recognition of engineering and education systems; embracing inclusiveness to comprehensively ensure the quality of excellent engineering talent cultivation; maintaining coherence to foster continuous development and career growth for engineers.
Looking ahead, the Union will continue to deepen industry-education integration, strengthen international cooperation, and promote the joint research, development, and sharing of standards to cultivate a large number of excellent engineering talents capable of addressing global challenges and advancing human societal progress.
At the conference, Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of Beihang, signed a MoU with UPV on behalf of Beihang to jointly establish the China-Spain Institute for Excellent Engineers. The institute will primarily focus on fields such as aerospace, artificial intelligence, computer science and technology, robotics, and the new generation of information and communication technologies, to cultivate internationally excellent engineers through joint university-enterprise training and fully English-taught programs. Graduates will receive dual degrees from Beihang and UPV.

On September 28, the fifth session of the Program for University-Enterprise Mentors in Training Excellent Engineers was held. More than 400 university-enterprise mentors from engineering master's and doctoral training institutions, enterprises, national laboratories, and the National Innovation Institute for Excellent Engineers participated in the program. Deng Yi, Vice President of Beihang, delivered a speech on behalf of the Union.
Since its approval in 2022, the National Superior College for Engineers at Beihang has continuously strengthened a "systematic, institutionalized, and normalized" matrix for university-enterprise collaborative education. It has innovated a new paradigm for engineering education characterized by "task-driven, university-enterprise collaboration, practice-oriented, and innovation-focused" approaches, explored a "demand-oriented, capability-oriented, and outcome-oriented" engineering education evaluation system, and created a "model room" for the independent cultivation of outstanding engineers. Beihang University serves as the secretariat of the Chinese Union for Training Excellent Engineers.
