Abstract:
As artificial intelligence becomes deeply integrated into the entire chain of multimodal narrative creation, the collaborative relationship between creative expression and technological tools is being continuously reshaped. To explore the future directions of multimodal narrative and to build a platform for in-depth dialogue between academia and industry, the lecture invites Mr. Marc Handler, internationally renowned animator and visiting professor at Beijing Film Academy, to present a special talk on The Application of Artificial Intelligence in Screenwriting and Narrative Creation on Friday evening, April 3. Faculty and students from across the university, as well as industry peers, are welcome to join the discussion on the new possibilities and core values of narrative creation in the age of AI.
About the Speaker:
Marc Handler is an American screenwriter, producer, voice director, educator, and author. He previously served as Executive Producer at Disney China and is currently a visiting professor at the Animation School of Beijing Film Academy. During his tenure at the Original Content Division of Disney China, he contributed to the development of the animated series Stitch & Ai and the live-action series Small and Mighty. He currently works as an international content advisor and screenwriter for CCTV Animation.
Throughout his career, Marc has been dedicated to the exchange and production of international commercial animation and film. In his early career, he introduced Japanese animated works such as Naruto and Cowboy Bebop, as well as Hong Kong films including Shaolin Soccer and The Legend of Zu, to the U.S. market. As an educator, Marc Handler has delivered keynote speeches at the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, the Beijing Film Academy, among others. In his recent book Collaborative Screenwriting: A Global Guide, published by Routledge, he shares insights gained from over 20 years of experience in international project development and scriptwriting techniques.
