
Liu Daxiang (1937.10—) is a professor and PhD supervisor in the School of Energy and Power Engineering of Beihang University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (elected in 1995).
Prof. Liu graduated from Beijing Institute of Aeronautics (now known as Beihang University) in 1960. Since 1986, he has been Chief Engineer and First Chief Designer of China Gas Turbine Establishment (formerly known as the 624 Institute). He is now the deputy director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
For over four decades, Prof. Liu has been focusing on the design and research of aircraft engine. He worked as the chief engineer, chief designer or technical director of several national projects and led some major researches, making great contributions to China’s research on aircraft engine.
He won a grand prize and two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, over ten ministry-level prizes and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. He was the Editor-in-Chief of four books, including Handbook on Aircraft Engine Design (Vol. 7 on air inlet and exhaust systems) and Aircraft Engine: Heart of Planes, and wrote over 100 papers and scientific reports.
