Jiang Chengbao (1968.9—) is Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Beihang University and Executive Director of the Chinese Materials Research Society. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in casting from Hefei University of Technology in 1990, followed by Master's and PhD degrees in casting and metal materials and heat treatment from Beijing University of Science and Technology in 1993 and 1996, respectively.
His research focuses on the functional regulation, preparation, and engineering application of high-performance magnetic materials. He has proposed new mechanisms for magnetostriction in nano-heterostructures and invented high-strain iron-based giant magnetostrictive materials. He addressed critical issues in the service temperature range and corrosion resistance of rare-earth giant magnetostrictive materials, and produced high-performance rare-earth giant magnetostrictive crystalline materials and high-temperature-resistant, high-performance rare-earth permanent magnets.
Jiang Chengbao has published over 300 academic papers and held more than 40 national invention patents. He has won the first prize of State Technological Invention Award, the second prize of State Natural Science Award, the first prize ofTechnological Invention Award in provincial and ministerial level, and the first prize of Beijing Educational Achievement Award.
