Cao Jinbin

Cao Jinbin (1964.12—) is a professor and PhD supervisor in the school of Astronautics, Beihang University. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2000, and elected as a distinguished professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program in 2008.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1986 and his PhD degree from Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier in 1996. He is a member of Board of Directors of CN-COSPAR, China Space Science Society, and International Academy of Astronautics.

His main research areas include magnetospheric physics and space environment exploration. His achievements in the magnetotail dynamics have been listed three times as the Top Story of the Cluster mission by European Space Agency. He proposed stationary Nongyrotropic model of new born ions in the vicinities of comets and planets with atmosphere. He is the PI of the Low Frequency Electromagnetic Wave detector for the China-ESA cooperation Double Star Program, CoI of ESA’s Clster mission and Venus express, and CNES’s Taranis.
