Yu Ronghai (1963.6—) is a professor and PhD supervisor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Beihang University. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2005.
Prof. Yu received his doctor's degree from the University of Barcelona, Spain in 1995. His research focuses on magnetic nanocomposites and hydrogen-related energy materials. He discovered a type of asymmetricgiant magnetoresistance (GMR) in magnetic granularalloys, proposed a new technology of superconductive YBCO single crystals growth, and developed soft magnetic composite materials with high strength, high magnetization and high-temperature resistance, and magnetic nanocomposites that feature wide-band electromagnetic shielding and wave absorbing properties.
In recent years, he has led more than ten national projects granted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 973 Program, the 863 Program, etc. He has also published over 100 papers in journals listed in the Science Citation Index. He holds six China or international patents. His other academic positions include editor of NPG Asia Materials and so on.
